History
Integrated Management Systems (IMS) was founded in 1996 in Renton, Washington by Dean Dorcas and Dan Keto, who were classmates at the United States Naval Academy. Since its inception, the company has focused on ways to help its clients improve the productivity of its distribution and production workforce. IMS was the first company in the Northwest to offer clients guaranteed fixed pricing for its supervised work crews. In order to assume the risk associated with fixed pricing, IMS developed productivity systems based on the principles used by the Naval Academy crew team to achieve top performance. The combination of individual performance metrics and team-based rewards create a goal-driven environment which results in an average increase in workforce productivity of 30%. After several years of managing production crews, IMS developed a systematized methodology to help its clients consistently improve productivity using production analysis, employee performance metrics, incentive systems and comprehensive HR programs.

Management Team

Dean Dorcas, Founder and CEO: Dean graduated #1 in Economics and in the top 1% of his class from the U.S. Naval Academy. After spending five years as a commissioned officer in the Navy, Dean founded IMS with a former classmate, Dan Keto. Under their leadership IMS was awarded as one of Washington State’s fastest growing companies in 2007. Dean is recognized as a leading expert in designing effective Pay for Performance incentive systems for labor intensive operations. In 2002 he graduated from the three-year Owner/President Management Program (OPM) at the Harvard Business School. Dan Keto, Founding Partner: A Distinguished Graduate in Economics from the U.S. Naval Academy and Graduate of Harvard Business School OPM, Dan spent his Naval career working for the National Security Agency as a Russian linguist and Cryptologic Officer. Karl Koehler, Managing Partner: Mr. Koehler joined IMS in February 2006 as the Managing Partner. Much of his experience in the logistics/transportations field came from his time employed at Door to Door Storage. He had contributed to all levels of the company from front line operations and management to corporate leadership. As General Manager (COO), he is responsible for all site operations, sales and marketing, City to City division, growth and human resources. For the two years prior to his role as General Manager, Mr. Koehler was Director of Operations. His responsibilities included managing all four markets’ financial performance, staffing and vendor relations. Prior to joining the corporate leadership, Mr. Koehler was the first permanent Market Manager in the San Francisco Bay Area Market. Prior to that assignment, he was the Market Manager for the Seattle Market. His market level experience included P&L responsibility, staffing, equipment procurement and vendor management amongst other duties. For the last six month years prior to his role at IMS, Mr. Koehler was General Manager at Hanson Bros. Moving and Storage. His responsibilities included Local/Interstate Moving and Storage operations (Northern division), the Portabox division, and the military household goods division. While in the Moving and Storage industry, he commenced his membership in the American Moving and Storage Association and was certified as a Certified Moving Consultant. Mr. Koehler graduated from the University of Washington (UW) with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Oceanography with a concentration in mathematics. Prior to his matriculation at the UW, he attended Eastern Oklahoma State and was a member Track and Field intercollegiate team competing in the 400 and 800 meters. Dave Sayres, Marketing and Business Development: Dave joined IMS in June 1996, one month after its inception. Originally from Philadelphia, his business, academic and travel interests have taken him to numerous U.S. and international venues. Dave has been instrumental in creating our marketing and business development strategies, and he holds a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt and an MBA from San Diego State University. Dave was an Army Officer in the Quartermaster Corps in Okinawa, Japan and has over 27 years of diversified business consulting and sales experience.
